Next week, the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) will hold the 42nd annual BILD Awards. One of the largest awards programs of its kind in North America, the BILD Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence and innovation in the design, construction, marketing and sales of new homes in the Greater Toronto Area. When prospective home buyers see that a project they are considering has received a BILD Award, they should view it as a mark of distinction.

The program was created in 1980 to celebrate the best in home building and marketing and has steadily expanded over the years as the industry has grown and evolved. BILD Awards now includes categories that recognize innovation, planned communities, people, environmentally conscious building, marketing, sales, design, architecture, inclusivity and community involvement.

We had more than 900 entries this year. In order to be eligible, a project must have commenced between January 1, 2021, and March 23, 2022, under construction or for rental or lease by the end of this calendar year. Submissions were judged against set criteria by 48 volunteer judges from across Canada and the United States. The judges are selected for their expertise in marketing, design, décor, architecture, building and development. To protect the integrity of the awards, judges cannot be members of BILD. For one very special award, People’s Choice, BILD invites the residents of the GTA to select their favorite project from a slate of entries.
