Trident looks to design students to craft new bedding line

The SCADpro program pairs innovative companies with the college’s creative students, alumni and professors.

New York – Trident is joining forces with a university design studio whose students have worked on creative projects for Disney, Porsche and Google to name a few.

The major home textiles manufacturer has signed a collaboration agreement with SCADpro, the corporate outreach arm of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. The design studio that connects current and future art and design professionals with business leaders to find creative and inventive solutions to real-world challenges.

This program aligns top SCAD students from many of the university’s top ranked degree programs, with two professors who oversee the team’s efforts in all aspects of the product development cycle – from inception, white space analysis, consumer research, trend analysis and finally design and development.

This 10-week project is tasked with developing a juvenile bedding line and will feature close collaboration with the SCAD students and Megan Baxter, VP of bedding design for Trident, and Brad Speaks, who oversees U.S. innovation for the India-based company.

“We have been entertaining the idea of collaborating with a top design college for some time,” said Jeffrey Kambak, CEO of US operations for the Trident Group. “We are excited to be aligned with such a tremendously talented group of young people as Trident unfolds our future growth strategy and enters retail space we have not traditionally played in.”
